FINAL EXAM REVIEW

Time and Date: 1-3pm, Friday 6 December2002.

Location of Review: 121 Lawrence

Bring: Your questions about course material. Also bring your notes, your readings, and a test taking tip to share. Understand that the review is for your benefit and that it is student-driven. Though I will say a few things at the beginning, this will not be an attempt on my part to cram the entire semester's content into a two hour lecture. The more you'll participate the more you'll get out of it.

Paper Writing Tips

If you're wondering how to find out who owns whom for your paper, you can go to a page maintained by the Columbia Journalism Review at http://www.cjr.org/owners/ . This list is not exhaustive, and it's a little out of date, but it's useful.

Here are some more resources on corporate ownership for your papers:

The Directory of Corporate Affiliations is available in print at both the business and Hillman Libraries in the reference sections.
Directory of Corporate Affiliations
BUSINESS LIBRARY - Reference (HG4057 A219 )
HILLMAN LIBRARY - Reference (HG4057 A219)
America's Corporate Families BUSINESS LIBRARY - Reference (HG4057 A147)

There is also a guide to print and electronic resources on business research put together by the business librarians. It is available at: Business Research http://www.library.pitt.edu/research/guides/business

This may help you to find out who owns whom, if you're after that information. Please do keep in mind, though, that the goal of the paper is for you to explain how people make money as your artifact is produced, promoted, distributed, and consumed. A list of names won't get you where you want to be.

A special treat just for you: Here is the final exam study sheet for spring 2002. I make no promises that the final for this semester will be exactly the same or that we will cover the exact same set of concepts, but the sheetwill at least give you an idea of what I think is important.
