About This Site / FAQ

This site is designed to help you do well in CommRC 1732. A few explanations are in order:

Q: I have no clue about the internet. Can you help me?

Yes, I can help if you come by my office hours. The University also offers some introductory courses for novice internet users.

Q: I hate the internet. Can I just go to class and not use the site?

Sorry, you're out of luck. Participation on the discussion board is a required part of the course. Most students find other features of my course websites to be worth their time as well.

Q: What's Adobe Acrobat format?

The syllabus and some other documents come as Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files. These files are formatted just for printing, so they'll look real nice for printouts. Acrobat works as a standalone program, and as an adjunct to your browser. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat and want it, this link takes you to the Adobe website, where you can get it for free.

Q: Tell me about the pages on this site and what they're for.

Okay.

Home Page: Current announcements, from newest to oldest. (Click the "Media and Music" graphic at the top of each page to get back home.)

Handouts / Assignments: Web and Acrobat versions of all major handouts and course assignments.

Discussion Board: You need to visit the discussion board once a week to keep up on what other students are saying. You'll also post your journals here.

Official Schedule: I keep the official schedule online, so that it's constantly updatable. Schedule changes will be announced in class and appear here.

Contact: How to contact me.

Syllabus: An online version of the syllabus. Also provides a link to a printable Acrobat version of the syllabus, in case you need another one.

Links: I'll put some links here; feel free to recommend some that you'd like to see.

About This Site: You're here already.

Q: What's the picture in the Media and Music graphic?

It's a CD duplication plant.
